Competition

Purposes of “New Horizons” Student Film Competition
To encourage the young generation to express the indigenous modern issues through videos, fully demonstrate their unique observation and thinking ability, as well as promote the diverse and creative development of cultural dissemination through the application of mass media, enhances the understanding and interaction between different ethnic groups.
 

Awards & Prizes

Students from Universities and Colleges
First prize, 1 recipient will receive a NT$50,000 cash prize and 1 trophy.

Second prize, 1 recipient will receive a NT$30,000 cash prize and 1 trophy.

Third prize, 1 recipient will receive a NT$10,000 cash prize and 1 trophy.

Prize for Distinction, 5 recipients will receive a NT$10,000 cash prize and 1 award certificate.


Working Students
First prize, 1 recipient will receive a NT$50,000 cash prize and 1 trophy.

Second prize, 1 recipient will receive a NT$30,000 cash prize and 1 trophy.

Third prize, 1 recipient will receive a NT$10,000 cash prize and 1 trophy.

Prize for Distinction, 5 recipients will receive a NT$10,000 cash prize and 1 award certificate.


Subject
To take the theme of 2022 MATA TIFF— “Lalan (Path/Way)”, as the subject of competition, the experimental and artistic films need to be close to the pulse of the indigenous era and the content of modern society.


Contestants
The contestants are divided into students from universities & colleges and working students. Each group is not limited to an individual or group for registration, but the group must have at least one indigenous student as a director or producer. The objects are described as follows:

(I) Students from Universities and Colleges: all students from colleges and universities can apply.

(II)Working Students: new graduate or on-the-job students studying in graduate school.

 

Film Specifications

(I) Feature short films, experimental short films, documentaries, animations etc.

(II) The total length of the video must be within 20 minutes, but not less than 3 minutes. The format must be played by QuickTime or Windows Media Player.

(III)The music material of the film should be one of the following ways: 1. Created by your own. 2. Please download and use Creative Common according to the authorization and labeling method of the music, and to see more on the website creativecommons.org.tw or commoncontent.org. 3. Other legally authorized music.

Submissions

Please go to the FilmFreeway for online submission from 0:00 on June 1 to 0:00 on July 1, 2022.




Offline Submission

Please arrange your entries, the registration form, video information and eligibility documents, printed on A4 paper, and archived on one VCDs. Please submit the all documents in person before 6:00 pm, July 1, 2022. Or through mail or courier delivery, please send to 5F., No.120, Chongyang Rd., Nangang Dist., Taipei City 11573, Taiwan, and indicate “to the MATA TIFF” on the envelope, above-mentioned time of receipt will be postmarked for proof.
